Canary Essence - Architecture and dance.

  • Derek Pedros
I believe that this crisis is the perfect time to reevaluate our role as a society, to rethink what we value most and what we allow to deteriorate with our decisions.

It is sadly well known that my islands and my country had decided to burn their treasures with a focus on the short term, in a quick profit. A fast ticket to nowhere.

I am confident that a change in the tourism model is one of the many decisions we have to make now, to focus on giving high value and respect to our art and culture, our lands and traditions as they are, without a cheap, unnecessary, and false layer of sun and beach.

For this reason, I'm very grateful to have met people and projects that share these ideas with me.
As Canary Essence and BeTenerife, who gave us the opportunity to investigate in their villas about architecture and dance, movement and space, territory and identity.

This is the result of the time we spent researching in the amazing space Hacienda Cuatro Ventanas.
Thank you Javier Arozena, Emiliana Battista Marino, and Gino Senesi for being part of this beautiful project.
