Candlelight

  • Ella Wilcock

This was my final piece, it focuses on the loneliness and isolation of life, stemming from lockdown, being trapped in our bedrooms. I focused on self- reflection and self photography, the idea being, to gain a better understanding of myself through the female gaze and not for vanity reasons. My emotions and thoughts represent the blurred brush strokes. I wanted the painting to be small in contrast to a big empty wall to carry the message of loneliness and isolation but to also juxtapose the positives of loneliness, being solitude and calmness. The light and shadows symbolise the positives and negatives to loneliness. -15cm x 10cm - Oil on MDF SIZE REF below
