Carnival

  • Ellie Covington

A Rebrand of the Cruise line ‘Carnival’; trying to modernise their identity without losing the essence of their ‘fun’ ethos. This new identity uses the typeface Recoleta to capture the cruise lines bubbly nature, manipulating the ‘C’ to represent a wave. The colour palette is inspired by the colours associated with holidays, using yellow to create a vibrancy that would stand out against competing cruise lines. Role in Project: Graphic Designer (University Project)

The main visual style used within the brand applications is vector based images to step away from stereotypical images associated with cruise lines as well as enhancing Carnival’s ethos.
As well as this, in recent years news headlines have focused on the damage Carnival has had on the environment. So by promoting online boarding passes to cut down paper use, and selling reusable products on board the brand can start to establish itself as being environmentally conscious.
