Brief: To create something that would celebrates a 'craft'.
Concept: I chose to celebrate weaving which is as much a task of mind as it is of hand. Through research and development I have designed a book to be kept by a weaver as a celebration of their craft. It brings together my own illustrations, photography, font design and poetry to depict and physical and mental challenges of weaving in a concise form. The illustrations have tactile qualities to them, representing the weaver’s need to do everything with their hands, and the yarn is highlighted with iridescent texture to encapsulate the journey of the thread. The result is a multi-textural book that celebrates the skill, passion and above all the patience of the weaver.
