To celebrate International Women's Day, The Change Foundation held their first International Women's Day event aimed at schools girls aged 15-18 from Lambeth and the surround boroughs on Tuesday 6th March 2018.
This was a full day events held at the Black Prince Trust Community Hub in Vauxhall. The theme of the day plays off of the question and phrase, "Can you remember my name?".
I curated and hosted a panel discussion by inspirational women including:
Maya Patterson (@Mayascarlettex), fashion designer and dancer who continuously breaks every stereotype, barrier and limit that society have tried to enforce on her #DoItWithNoHands.
Sonny Turner (@Sonnyturner__) Model and body positive advocate.
Skye (@skylermyler) Co-hustler/Founder of the inclusive club night Pxssy Palace, actress, club promoter and also shorts the art work for Pxssy Palace.
Shazia Hossen (@_Shazfit) UKs first Hijabi Nike Ambassador, model, personal trainer and founder of Strong Habibiti Athletics, an inclusive, modest sports clothing line.
The aim of the panel was to show young women the power in owning your story, overcoming the labels/definitions that society put on us, the importance of self-definition, what you were like at school/college and any advice we would give to our younger self.
