Changing Seasons

  • Kate Partington

These pieces come from the currents that run beneath the surface—anticipation, yearning, longing, desire. Each artwork is a snapshot of transformation, where the edges blur and something essential is both lost and found. They aim to reach toward that strange, ungraspable feeling—the one that surges up like a wave when the world around you changes, when the air smells different and the light shifts, when everything feels both important and doomed, beautiful and on the verge of disappearing. They unravel the tension between what was and what will be, lingering in the spaces where creation and destruction touch. They’re about the quiet devastations and small resurrections that happen in the turning of leaves, the falling of snow, the return of light. This series begins through cut and paste collage- creating and crafting various hand cut collages and then editing these digitally.
