changing spaces

a selection of screen printed textiles visualised in a gallery context, inspired by the following passage; "everyday we encounter spaces. an array of spaces which exist for a variety of functions but that also have the ability to make us feel a variety of emotions. It is interesting to me how a space has this ability. to effect the emotions of those inhabiting it. How is it that a space can feel oppressive, calming or even welcoming. Are these merely external constructs in our minds flagged up by visual indicators or is there something innately within the design of a space which induces these feelings. I wonder whether a space is ever really a blank canvas."
