Character Prosthetics Design, 2018

The process of creating old-age prosthetics in training for film, tv or theatre - a project from university. This involved the moulding, colouring and applying of the prosthetics. I designed plans for my character, Mrs Twit (Roald Dahl, 1980), which was then applied in a 2hr exam. The process involved planning the whole holistic look including the design for costume and hair. Unfortunately, the University did not deliver the final images for the exam.

Flat Bed Moulds - these are the silicone prosthetics pieces after colouring with pigment - here we have 5 pieces (from top to bottom) the Cupid's bow (Top left), the chin piece (top right), left and right cheek with under eye bags (middle), and Forehead piece. If I were to do this again; I would focus on perfecting the edges by taking a cotton bud and thinning the wet silicone in the mould on the outer areas, to create a more natural blend into the models skin.
This part of the process involved the moulds that the silicone was then poured into.
Eye designs - elasticity is lost in the eyes when a person becomes elderly; the structure around the eyes and the muscle support weakens. I wanted to portray this in my character.
