In Good Company presents Check In Festival. Check In Festival celebrates its 8th year, on the 3rd – 4th April 2020 at Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester. A superb spring festival of friendly hellos, wondrous work-in-progress, wicked workshops and the most cutting edge theatre. We are committed to supporting and playing host to a range of work from both small and large independent touring companies, as well as providing space for risk-taking, experimentation and play. Check In Festival is a shared space to bring venues closer to artists and support independent producers. Highlights of the festival include Girl Meets Boy by Blink Dance Theatre; set in the weird and wonderful world of millennial mating and seen through their neurodiverse lense, this group of five attempt to answer the age-old question: is there a happy ever after for everyone? Check In Festival’s ever popular venue speed dating, this year with a popular-card-game-inspired twist; a unique opportunity to meet 10+ midlands programmers and venues all at the same time and in the same place. It is also a place to open up and demystify the theatre making process. Three fabulous female theatre makers will be our Check In Festival Artists In Residence; as such they will enjoy time over the two-days to refine their work before opening up the doors for you to enjoy an exclusive look at their work in progress material, with a pizza party to follow; ensuring that ample opportunity to chew the fat about the art. The festival culminates in one of In Good Company’s famous Scratch Nights, with an insatiable line-up of the best theatre makers, including: Our Diana tribute – not to Diana, Princess of Wales – but to the endless public opinions and media articles broadcast every week since her death; Old Coke, a play set on the day of Margaret Thatcher's funeral; 52 Souls, an open and honest examination of death and Where The Lost Socks Go, a musical adventure & story about not always feeling like you fit in, and how everyone can feel a bit odd sometimes. Daljinder Johal, Check In Festival Trainee Producer said: ‘It’s been super interesting working with the In Good Company team to pull together this line-up for Check In Festival 2020, the festival has a real focus on taking risks, opening up processes and the development of local artists in all their glory.’ All events at Check In Festival operate on a Pay What You Decide basis. This means there is no set ticket price and instead you, the audience/participant get to decide what you would like to pay for it. Sometimes this may be dictated by what you can afford and by what you think your experience was worth. The most important thing is that, we believe this festival is all about risk taking and your development, so we want to help you take that risk. Share the line-up along with the hashtag #CheckIn20
