Circus Grimm

A stop motion treatment and character exploration.

Circus Grimm was a project built around getting to grips with the stop motion medium.
To do this I came up with a premise revolving around a down on it's luck circus and it's very peculiar group of performers.
I took on all elements of the design, model making, animation and editing so as to gain a better understanding of what's involved at every step of creating a stop motion production.
Each puppet was also designed to have a characteristic which would test my skill as an animator.
For example the two headed strong man was created with a double armature, and the acrobat omitted joints to achieve rubber hose stule animation.
If you would like to explore the back story behind each character andhow each puppet was created in further detail, there is an updated version of the production bible available to view here
