To mark the opening of citizenM’s new flagship hotel in New York at 189 Bowery, we comissioned local photographer Christelle de Castro to create a tribute to the area by capturing portraits of the residents.
When hung in all 180 windows of the Bowery-facing facade, the hotel was transformed into a temporary landmark of the Bowery.
The stories of the residents were collected and used alongside the photography across a range of touchpoints to create a guide to the Bowery area from the perspective of the locals.
