City Still

  • El Nafar

Self-initiated photography exploring the contemplative silences of the long shadows. Stepping into the side roads, these worlds; where the sounds of the city traffic is suddenly silent.

There is a feminine energy hiding within cities that often goes unnoticed. When I moved from city to city, I have grown to see buildings as a place where life is nurtured and grown.
Within my photographic practice, I find myself drawn to clean compositions, enamoured by light and reflections through the glass and the shadows cast. Straight lines and organic forms, I toy with assumptions of what is masculine or feminine when looking at inanimate objects. Ideas of yin - yang underlining the use of black and white film.
I take a hands-on approach to my process. From the development and enlargement of my film to the fine-tuning using Lightroom.
Excited to produce a photobook featuring my film photography in the coming months!
