CLAPTONE - ANIMAL feat. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (Stop Motion Official Music Video)

  • Vee Ladwa

The official stop motion music video I made for Claptone’s single ‘Animal’ ft. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and taken from the ‘Fantast’ album. As my directorial debut, I wanted to make the video with as much practical effects as possible. The video took 3 months of intensive work to complete for which I have conceptualised, designed, animated, screenplayed and directed the short. It’s follows Claptone on getting to know his inner animal…as Claptone explains here: “The song ‘Animal’ was one of the first tracks I completed for ‘Fantast’, giving the album somewhat of a clear direction. It’s blunt manner, it’s raw energy and it’s anger and frantic vocals; all the blues rock sound it throws at a pulsating house track just leave you speechless. At first, the musical outcome was a shock to me, but then it opened my eyes to a beauty unseen.” “Before the song was written, I knew that I was only part human. I focused on getting to know this human side of me just a little better. After ‘Animal’ everything was different. Now I try to chase down the animal within me to find out who I truly am.” It was a beautiful challenge and experience and will be one of those projects I will never forget and be grateful for always! I had a very small team of 3 (inc. myself) on the project and would like to thank Jason Brookes (editor) and Jennifer Kidd (Clothing Design) for all their kind help. I jumped onto Dragonframe for capturing the images whilst honing my DSlr, cinematography and lighting skills whilst I made the sets hand crafted from foamboard and clay. The puppets were hand made and clothed by the talented Jennifer Kidd. All head sculpts of the animals were hand sculpted by myself.
