Class of 2020 Podcast

  • Rufaro Faith Mazarura

After talking to my final year friends about the strange reality of graduating in the midst of a pandemic, I decided to create Class of 2020, a podcast documentary series about studying, graduating and coming of age in the midst of the pandemic

Episode 1: Life in Lockdown
In this episode of Class of 2020, Rufaro speaks to students about how they’re navigating their new normal and how they’ve adjusted to doing university online. Then she speaks to Konstantin Chterev,  a Space Psychologist who shares his experience of working with a team exploring the future of travelling to and living in space!
Episode 2: On The Frontline
In this episode of Class of 2020, Rufaro speaks to students and recently qualified healthcare graduates about working in the NHS on the front line of the pandemic. They share the reasons why they got into healthcare, the challenges they're facing as they begin their careers and how they're setting boundaries and taking care of themselves in such an unpredictable time. Then she speaks to Dr Amile Inusa, an A&E doctor who shares what her life as a junior doctor was like and gives tips for how recent graduates can navigate the start of their careers.
Episode 3: The Future of Social Mobility
In this episode of Class of 2020, Rufaro speaks to Dr Lee Elliot Major, the UK's first Professor of Social Mobility. They talk about the attainment gap, imposter syndrome and the long term effect the pandemic will have on social mobility. This is the first in a series of 'The Future' themed interviews that will be released throughout the series.
