Cloud 61

Cloud 61 is based around the sky and the environment within. The title 'Cloud 61' was inspired by how many images I photographed of the sky. The project again focused on surrealism but explored how the colour and atmosphere of the sky can effect ones mood. Using my primary research I was able to develop digital drawings ready to create engraved samples from the laser cutter. I used mirrored acrylic and clear cast acrylic to create my samples as I began to explore the concept of hard meeting soft. From this I created my own wooden stands and inserted lights within to capture the essence of the sky. Experimenting with warm colours and tones to create a relaxing and calm atmosphere where as the cool colours and tones created a eerie and mysterious setting. Creating a surrealist environment was something i was keen to show. Using the clear cast acrylic to paint on and then layer was something that embodied this idea. Essentially bringing clouds inside created a surrealist effect as a clouds natural environment is outside. The idea that the two environments where colliding intrigued myself. From these Samples I see potential for commercial interior installations or products such as lamps or night lights.
