In this week's spotlight, we take a look at the work of Anthony Segond-Amata

"Above all, I am delighted to be able to share my world and my passion for photography. Over the course of my experiences, fashion has become the theme and topic that I gravitate towards most strongly. I love mixing different universes through world-building, and assembling worlds infused by the energies of all the people that inspire me.

I really enjoy playing with the energies of each individual I encounter with my camera. When I create my own projects, I like to give myself a guideline. But once I’m on set, I let myself be carried away by the personality of the models I photograph. I'm also not afraid to completely change direction at the last moment, and to allow for happy accidents to happen – I need to maintain some element of spontaneity. Ultimately, it’s all about the mood in the moment I’m capturing an image; I don’t always know what the outcome is going to be!

When shooting I am most excited by people with a strong and innate sense of their own personalities – people with a lot of self-confidence and character. But also people with extreme sensitivity who also reveal their vulnerable sides. I find that everything happens in the eyes of the people I meet.

I work with a team that consists of a makeup artist, Nafik Bouchareb, and a stylist, Tessidy Soleil. We use my apartment balcony or my underground garage as a small studio. I mainly buy items for shoots at Marché Saint-Pierre – a fabric store in Paris. We find our designer set in flea markets. Step by step, I am starting to use AI at times to be able to add elements to my photos and to experiment.

The person who inspires me the most in my work, and who keeps me dead set on achieving my goals, has to be Beyoncé. all the work you see was produced and worked on whilst having Beyoncé playing in my ears. I find her live shows particularly impactful on me. Besides her sensitivity, I think it’s also her rage that is most reflected in my work. When I hear her scream, bringing out all that lies deep within her, it creates a powerful momentum in me that motivates me to grow. "I dream it, I work hard, I grind 'til I own it!”
