Clubber Spotlight: Hon Rowlands & Madeline Street
This week, we caught up with Dazed Clubbers Hon Rowlands and Madeline Street on their latest photoshoot for Hon's own magazine ONSETT. Hon delves into the inception of her publication, how this particular creative collab came about, and the importance of Queer icons.
"Encouraging and embracing creativity, ONSETT celebrates fashion, culture and emerging talent. The publication expresses creativity through its literal meaning; with it referring to being ‘on-set’ - we focus on what happens prior to the final product. Looking into the history of brands, upcoming creatives with their journey & how culture ties into this. The behind the scenes work is the foundation to a final project; Every reference. Every person. Every hour. They are the reason. They are ONSETT. ONSETT came to life from an urge to create a platform that encourages and embraces creativity. In an industry often hard to break into, I often found myself lost. It was born with the sole purpose to support others and create opportunities."
"Based in Manchester, born in the Peak District; my creative scene is built up by those who surround me. ONSETT is the people's place, we aim to capture and create within our inclusive environment. Myself and Barnardos Vintage Manager Madeline Street combined our creativity, with a vision to pay homage to the queer icons who came before us. Using garments from her vintage store, alongside sewing scraps; we styled looks that represented various queer icons such as Cher & Madonna. All the previous and current queer icons rest at the soul of this series. Living in a world which often feels so unsettled, the Queer community provides support & power through unity; and we are richer for it."
