Coal Line

This visual brand identity was created for Peckham Coal Line, a resident led proposal for a new linear park which will link Queens Road Peckham & Rye Lane. They aim to repurpose a disused rail coal sidings into a 1km long elevated urban park. It will be a green ribbon cutting through a heavily built up ex-industrial area providing a precious green open space.
The identity was inspired by industrial imagery and rail signals, using the level crossing line as a visual guideline across the different pieces and materials. Baring in mind the collective and community character of this project, I also created a series of symbols based on hobo signs. In the form of stickers, this visual language could allow visitors to use them as a way of communication, marking the different spaces in the park and expressing their opinions and advise to other visitors.
