Come visit Turf Projects latest exhibition 'Croydon Plays Itself', a project by artist Harold Offeh.

  • Becky Lyon

The exhibition opens 17th Jan 5-9pm, with a group performance choreographed by Harold Offeh; Lounging in Croydon will be an evolution of Offeh’s Lounging project. The exhibition continues until 2 March, open Wed-Sat 11-5pm and until 8pm Thurs at Turf, 46-47 Trinity Court, Whitgift Centre, Croydon CR01UQ. 'Croydon Plays Itself' is a project by artist Harold Offeh, taking as its starting point a selection of objects from the Museum of Croydon’s display. Working with local individuals and groups, Croydon Plays Itself will utilise performance, video, conventions of retail display, and sensory elements to invite Croydon to re-visit and re-animate aspects of its history. Offeh works in a range of media including performance, video, photography, learning and social arts practice. Through previous works Offeh has been interested in how performance and re-enactments can allow people to establish conversations with histories, often employing humour as a means to confront the viewer with historical narratives and contemporary culture. As usual we have lots of free events coming up to coincide with the exhibition, including a free opportunity to get feedback, a practical session exploring how artists can access and use archives, and a free family workshop, all led by Offeh. http://turf-projects.com/croydon-plays-itself-harold-offeh/ #croydonrepresent #supportlocalculture #freearts
