My shortlisted entry for the Computer Arts magazine cover competition. The title to accompany the illustration was "New Talent".
I wanted to create an image that would depict a struggle and a breakthrough moment. After changing my mind several times an image of a salmon leaping upstream came into my head, I thought this would be very fitting and the salmon would be a representation of a young Illustrator/designer finally breaking through and being discovered.
As a young Illustrator with little reputation I often feel like it's a constant and very tough battle against the stream to make a career out of being a creative, so this image is quite personal to me.
