I shot BTS images for the filming of Jameela Elfaki's film about the Goal Diggers FC "Meet the grassroots squad breaking down stereotypes and tearing up the rule book. Goal Diggers FC was founded in 2015 by Fleur Cousens, who dreamt of equality in football. With the aim to make the game more accessible to female and non-binary footballers, regardless of experience or ability, Fleur set up the non-profit club as a safe and inclusive space. Realising that most of London’s prime pitches were taken up by men’s teams, it took years for GDFC to land a 2 hour weekly slot on an 11 aside pitch at Haggerston Park. However, last year’s lockdowns put a halt to the club’s fundraising events, and the high cost of the pitch rental means they’re at real risk of losing their slot. Budweiser believes everyone deserves a place to play, especially those who put their dreams on the line, so they’ve provided the team with the unique opportunity to train at a Premier League ground. Additionally, Budweiser is helping to empower their dream of creating visibility and a safe place for female and non-binary footballers to play, by covering their pitch fees for remainder of the year. But GDFC need your help too."
