Cornershop Stories

  • Qanitah Malik

Corner Shop Stories is a research and public engagement project that seeks to support the telling of the social history and community value of corner shops in London. Through this project, I worked to preserve intangible heritage, connect you to lesser known migration stories and prompt a reassessment of the value placed on corner shops. I was responsible for collecting historic and contemporary research material for the project, conducting oral history interviews, training volunteers and creating website and social media content, in collaboration with local archives, researchers and cultural sector professionals. In addition to this, I was in charge of collating, editing and uploading multimedia content onto Layers of London.
