‘CORNISH DREAMSCAPE’ Photographer & Post Production: Lauren Cremer @lozfolio Model: Janet Mayer @janetmayerofficial Hair Stylist/Wigs: Marìa Vannìcola @soulkittten Backdrop: Matthew Lawrence @mgjlawrence Designer: Tilda Fuller @tildafuller Lighting: Rotolights @rotolight Production & Location: DCC Studios @dcc.studios @drawingcabaretcouture This collection is an ode to the stories untold, craft that has gone unnoticed, and the hands that tirelessly create. Informed by designer, Tilda Fuller’s heritage and growing up in Cornwall surrounded by Women textile makers. Her work embraces the decorative, standing against the belief that decoration is lesser because it is feminine. Exploring whether society and the fashion system hates our women? Women and their work have been confined to the domestic, textile work is thought to require patience not artistry. The presentation of women's work as less has reinforced masculine norms. The ‘pretty’ profanity motifs, a personal reclaiming of power in the face of society's disregard. Tilda has taken inspiration from traditional Cornish folk stories that demonize women and magpies linking them to the devil. A celebration of women, condemning fashion’s Witch hunting, pace and competition. Accordion’s architecture and decoration inform take up space in my silhouettes. The material girl, patch-worked and cross-stitched mocks the association drawn between women and materialism. Exploring fashion’s misogyny towards its market and makers and the preferential treatment of men in design. Shown by the number of male creative directors. Tilda’s flip bird, lenticular prints reference Zoetrope's, moving and dynamic, showcasing my chosen craft, printmaking. A celebration of folk and traditional crafts like patchwork and paper-cutting passed down to her by women’s wisdom in her family. This project is inspired by the ethos of women's craft, which values community, sustainability and collaboration at its core. Tilda aim to illuminate women’s work in fashion.
