Corpus Christi College May Ball

The Corpus Christi May Ball is a large event that takes place every two years in the college grounds, drawing roughly 1000 guests to the night of live entertainment on several stages. As a member of the two person Creative and Décor team, I was responsible for the creation and implementation of visuals: promotional material/website/tickets/programme. This required that I worked creatively to strict briefs and deadlines, which improved my ability to prioritise and plan ahead. Additionally, I managed the creation and instalment of décor for each themed area in the college. All creative and décor had to be covered by our modest budget, for which I had dual responsibility with my team partner: thoughtful planning and use of the budget was absolutely necessary. I had a carefully planned vision for how each area would contrast and compliment the others, and took on both an overseeing and a hands-on role in the set-up and take-down of all décor for the ball. A large part of my role in the lead up to the ball was liaison with external companies for props/marquee hire, which required me to research companies intensively and to be able to communicate in a professional manner both via email and over the phone. Finally I was involved in working the ball, in a shift from 6pm to 8am: management, security and ushering acts.
