Creative Conscience Awards Winner / Smart Diabetes Case

  • Andrea Rizzotto

The Creative Conscience Awards is an open brief design competition. The challenge: create a product or service that deals with an issue you’re passionate about solving. Something that isn’t working in the world around you and needs a solution. The Smart Diabetes Case is a compact container designed to help young type 1 diabetic teenagers to keep their medical devices organised and safe at all times. The product encourages the user to deal with their illness with confidence and become more independent. The medical devices carried by the diabetic are appositely located above several motion sensors that allow the smart case to communicate with the smartphone app and promptly notify the user if any of their equipment is missing from the bag or got lost. The Smart Diabetes Bag is the outcome of an iterative design process, 1 to 1 interviews with a diabetic person, questionnaires and a comprehensive primary and secondary research focused on analysing a typical young diabetic person’s daily habits in dealing with their illness.
