Single release: 04/2021 Total Streams: 138K+ Total Views on Youtube: 31K+ My role: Marketing Strategy, Graphic Design, Promotion The challenge: drop a video on our own channel and touch at least 500 subscribers no Youtube platforms.. no GRM.. no LinkUp TV etc. D Suarve’s ‘boppy’ and catchy single OU LA LA was to be Suarve’s first release on his own channel. It needed a strong marketing and promotion campaign to boost channel subscribers and views as well as still hitting numbers in streams. I began by getting in touch with 5k Freestyles to produce a fresh and unique ‘freestyle-styled’ music video. We thought of many ideas for the video but we decided to give it a raw and fun feel to it that would show Suarve’s personality and flair. After producing a solid video we came up with ways to build a buzz around the video release. Using the catchy ‘ehenn ahha’ adlib from the hook to tune the audiences ears in. As well as UK promotion, it was only right to promote the hook which had a mixed use of french phrases like ‘bonjor ca va, ou la la’ and Nigerian phrases like ‘Ehenn’ in both French and Nigerian cities. This was promoted across social media platforms relevant to the targeted audience such as Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat, reaching out to popular influencers and content creators to produce content with the song. One successful strategy that brought attention to the release was a photoshopped DM from Burna Boy about the song which we dropped just before the release on April Fool’s Day when everyone was posting pranks on instagram. This was a great opportunity to grab attention in a fun way.
