To progress your skills as an artist, I think it's really important to build a habit of drawing every day if you want to improve! I found setting aside just ten minutes a day to creating some art is a really useful tactic to building a habit. If you stick to this rule, you will ultimately end up drawing for a lot longer than ten minutes and the skills will start to develop. Secondly, if you're struggling with creative block and don't really know what to draw, then just draw some shapes and build on that. I don't think any creative idea builds off nothing, there will always be some catalyst to fuel the creative mind. I find Pinterest can be a fantastic place to group together images that will influence your ideas. I would forget about trying to achieve a particular style. Style is something that develops naturally with time, creating art is all about mileage, you'll begin to notice patterns in your work the more work you create. You can experiment with different mediums if you'd like to fast track this part of your work, using different mediums can influence and accelerate the discovery stage. But most all, just be patient and have fun! Don't be afraid to try something new or even mess up some of your work. You might just be about to get to that next big breakthrough!
