50 objects drawn in gouache for the 50 days of the first Melbourne Covid lockdown, 2020. I undertook this drawing project to stop and notice, playfully placing importance on overlooked mundanity as an antidote to panic buying, fear and media binging. Using the democratic vernacular of the everyday, the subject matter responds to the social narrative which was unfolding daily. As a result, the drawings subtly trace a personal and collective experience of the early pandemic. The ordinary inanimate objects quietly echo human concerns and behaviours of a specific place and time.
