Dance Free (A Documentary Short)

  • Sarah Ayesha Betts

Dance Free explores the practise of dancing ecstatically with a group in a woods in Lincolnshire. Looking strange to passers-by, the dancers move in nature ‘like no one is watching’ and let go of all inhibitions while listening to a soundtrack which is played through silent disco headphones. The dancers in this documentary explain the significance and ritual of the practise for them and put into words how and why they find it liberating.
