#dancingontheinternet - Fine Art project | 2018

#dancingontheinternet is an ongoing project using social media and smartphones to show contemporary dance. I documented myself learning and performing two contemporary dance pieces online: Pina Bausch's 'Nelken Line', and 'Rosas Danst Rosas' by Anne Terese de Keersmaeker. I have exhibited these dances on smartphone handsets as 'digital performances'. 'Rosas Danst Rosas' is traditionally danced by four dancers on chairs, which I acknowledged in the final installation. The nature of looping video meant that each 'dancer' went in and out of sync with the others, creating the feel of an endless, group dance, with hypnotic effect.
