Chazza shop runway and rave!!! The most gorgeous night, I am so overwhelmed at the turnout, to see my community growing, to see my crazy visions come to life! I’m Madeline, I work for Barnardo’s running the Barnardo’s Vintage store in Cheadle, Manchester, and I am combining my love for editorial fashion with my normal retail job. I have curated the first ever editorial charity shop runway in collaboration with @radiosez.co.uk creating high fashion looks out of ragged, unsellable clothing + fabric from the store. Repurposing the lowest of low end items into high fashion, editorial runway looks. I have merged my two worlds of mundane charity shop manager by day and crazy editorial art director by night, to create this one beautiful evening, the new creative scene of the north. I really believe this is on the verge of becoming something massive, charity shops are on the cusp of taking over high street stores and I am aiming to take this 10 times further. Over the past 8 months or so I have been turning my Barnardo’s store into the first of its kind, highlighting a focus on fashion and creating a community for northern creatives. With luxury dying and sustainability being such a huge focus for Gen Z, why can’t charity shops be the face of luxury?
