I am nominating Victoria Ruiz for the Dazed 100 list based on her innovative and deeply impactful artistic practice. A Venezuelan multidisciplinary artist and graduate of Central Saint Martins (2022), Ruiz's work spans photography, sculptural garments, and live performance, exploring themes of identity, cultural resistance, and the intersection of spirituality and nature. Her approach blends Afro-diasporic spirituality with her Latin American heritage, creating powerful, immersive imagery that challenges socio-political norms and celebrates the resilience of marginalized communities. Her distinctive work, which includes acclaimed exhibitions at Tropigalpão (Rio de Janeiro) and the PhotoVogue Festival (Milan), has already garnered international recognition, including multiple awards. Ruiz’s art invites audiences to reflect on identity and environmental consciousness, while her carnivalesque lens offers a transformative perspective on the fluidity of self and the interconnectedness of all beings.
