“HELLO” - JELANI BLACKMAN ALBUM COVER DESIGN This November, Ladbroke Grove native Jelani Blackman released his new album “The Heart of It”, parading an alchemy of genre-bending fresh tracks. The album navigates the reality of a young Black man surviving London and how we can “find love and truth in a world filled with greed and hypocrisy”. Blackman’s style shatters the box critics place him in, flowing between hip-hop, New York jazz elements, London grime, alt-indie rock and electronic melodies from start to finish. With collaborations from the likes of Biig Piig, Bob Vylan and Kojey Radical, “The Heart of It” takes the listener on a vision quest journey of night-time antics, heartbreak, family and finding the light. The fluid switch up in tone from track to track keeps us on our toes - from “Feel The Same” to “Clear”, all the way through to “Izit” and “Arrival”. Top track “When You Feel It” combines a dark Lil Peep-esque intro that evolves into a naughty ethereal range once the chorus drops. Produced by Danio Forni & Chris Andoh (the team behind Stormzy’s Vossi Bop), the track is described by Blackman as “one of the best reflections of who I am and what I can do” (The Line of Best Fit). Listen to Jelani Blackman’s debut album “The Heart of It” for a lyrical adventure that leaves you with the feeling of Beast Mode: Activated. Design by: @rioknight_design on Instagram
