This is a live recording of Dean, a homeless guy who lives in Bournemouth and survives from busking. I was walking past him in Bournemouth square and once I heard his voice I stopped, I could not believe how talented this guy was and straight away I had a vision that I will record him one way or another, so i approached him and that was how everything started. As it was my first year in university I had loads to learn, so I started reading about microphones, recording techniques, the behavior of sound outdoors, etc. just so that I could get that recording done as soon as possible. He was not the most reliable and was moving around, sometimes I would not see him for months, so I did not want to loose him. I had a chat with him and a recording was something that he was dreaming about for a long time and was willing to perform whenever there was a chance, so I booked out the gear, found a location which was a car park, and recorded him. Even though Dean was singing covers of various known musicians I was recording him with the biggest smile on my face, because he sounded amazing. The whole album was recorded in one take and the session took around two hours. It was an amazing experience and a privilege. After the recording I asked him if i could ask a couple of questions on camera and he didn’t mind, so here it is-“Deans Car Park”.
