Dear Friend Project

  • Kim Gray

How can we create connections between individuals in radically different situations?

The idea is simple...

Someone somewhere in the world is asked to write a letter to a currently displaced person. Likewise, a displaced person is asked to write a letter to a person living in another part of the world.

The result is an exchange of stories; a bond between two strangers who, for a little while, set aside their differences through the act of writing. This project aims to break barriers between nationalities, languages and religions, but most importantly, it aims to strengthen our common humanity.

Organised a Dear Friend Project event to celebrate the start of Refugee Week 2017: an evening of letter
reading, writing and Middle Eastern-inspired food.
