Design District - Greenwich Peninsula - London Art Piece - 230mm x 342mm - 2019
This piece is created with pencil and pen, and was commissioned to promote the new development in Greenwich Peninsula and Design District. I have illustrated the forefront of the design with an architectural style, a view into what is inside.
These sections represent activities within London, and cycled in time. On the building on the left, include a restaurant, signifies eating and dining, they are many options with food and varieties of cultures merged into London. Having meals is a constant cycle to keep us going energised, and also a treat with delicious food available. Above is a cinema, which is one of my favourite places to relax and be entertained. I watch a lot of films and animations, I feel it cuts you off from what is outside for the duration of the movie, once I get into a good film. I also like the cinematography and how scenes are filmed with different tones and certain framing and angles of shots.
Above is a tea room, tea or coffee is a universal language for peace and warmth, plus common with meetings, breaks within work, mornings, and a catch up with friends, reading or alone with music to relax and indulge. Above is a bar, I have lived in London my whole life, and on weekends and Friday evenings, many bars, pubs are busy and overloaded with people, to have fun on the weekend and enjoy a few drinks, London is lively through peak hours. On the bottom and centre is a London underground tube station, and going below is a train and carriages. Transport is important to keep us moving, through peak hours, commuting to work, seeing friends and family and for day outs. It keeps us connected and ensuring we can travel through our city.
On the right there is a library, apartment, and the waiting room. The waiting room, on the first floor, has a reception, lounge, I feel we are all always waiting for something or someone. Above is a library, representing learning and development, this is vital for this city and students from all over the world come to London to study, It is a Hub and there is always room to learn and progress.
Above the library is an apartment, the lounge is all very dark, I watch a lot of sports on TV, and you can be on the edge of your seat or sink into the sofa, the lounge can be the black hole as its just sucks you in for hours at times, the room aside is a studio with a large desk, as artists, we all need a comfortable, peaceful place to create. Above is the bedroom and balcony, music from vinyl’s is playing, as music helps me whilst drawing and relaxing. I also have a jacuzzi on the balcony, I feel every individual needs their break from a busy, hectic city, to refresh their minds and rest the body. In the background and centre is the o2 Arena, one of many landmarks along the River Thames.
