Design For Music

  • Mikey Feeley
In this brief, I was asked to respond to music through type and image, creating a piece of packaging without referring to the band, their manager, or their record company’s marketing department.
I chose ‘The Clash’, as I felt their socio-political subject matter could be expressed through images featured within newspapers and deeply reflected the mood of their album ‘London Calling’. Through the process of creating various collages from newspapers taken from 1979, the year the album was released, I came up with a series of posters to accompany a vinyl, record sleeve and a collection of match boxes.
