I co-directed a wonderful new play called 'Unsoiled', alongside its writer (and my very good friend) Ewan Martin. Alongside directorial duties, I wrote and performed some original music during the play. Set in an imagined rural and distant landscape, I was inspired by niche freak folk projects like Wyrd Visions' 'Half-Eaten Guitar' album to create an atmosphere at once familiar and ominous. During the production, I sang and played the gimbre (a Moroccan bass string instrument) and a variety of small percussion instruments I've collected from around the world. I wrote and recorded 'Orla's Song' for the play's trailer, the lyrics of which were written by Ewan and feature during a tender moment between the two main female characters' love arc: [photo credit: Maria Woodford; image credit: Coco Wheeler]
