Concept Typeface Development extended internship at Dalton Maag. Project refinement with assistance from Krista Radoeva. Strategy With guidance from Ron Carpenter, I designed Dita Display during an extended internship at Dalton Maag. Dita took inspiration from Modern, Neo-Classical and Bodoni/Didone typefaces, as well calligraphic influences. I went on to design a text, italic and bold master, and later a Cyrillic weight in my own time. My research process for designing the Cyrillic master for Dita Display involved studying and dissecting type specimens, print outs of Cyrillic fonts, looking at books and blogs, and practicing calligraphy and handwriting. I also purchased a copy of Yuri Gordon’s Book of Letters from A to Z for further guidance.
