Neil Kenlock's documentation of Black culture and society in the UK during the seventies depicts the oppressive and discriminatory attitudes towards the growing African and Caribbean communities in London. His photos however don’t convey a bleak mood, they capture and highlight the hope, strength and unity of Black people fighting against injustice. Through my concept, I wanted to emulate this powerful and mesmeric mood by shooting someone who embodies this energy of optimism and strength. In her ordinary garden Binta looks extraordinary, empowered and striking – a force to be reckoned with. Directed & Shot by @danielrobinson_ Model & Styled by @bintamass_
