Dotting the i's and Crossing the t's - November 2020 - February 2021

For the inaugural exhibition at the depot_ Dotting the i’s and Crossing the t’s showcases six contemporary artists working within typography today. Typography and the art of text explores the visual manipulation of words, and the exhibition highlights the ways in which contemporary typography artists are finding powerful new ways to use their voice. Featuring works from: Aida Wilde Anthony Burrill Dave Buonaguidi Jacqueline Colley Oli Fowler Rob Ryan A predominantly print based exhibition, the works illustrate the breadth of text as a medium and take the written word beyond the functional. Dotting the i’s and Crossing the t’s features some of the most prominent artists working in text today, brought together here to demonstrate the vast spectrum of text based art - from slogan flags to neon postcodes, the exhibition highlights that it’s truly not just what you say but how you say it.
