We received a grant from the BFI's NHS Untold Stories initiative to make Dr. XYZ: A Medical Drag Transthology, an anthology of transgender and non-binary healthcare experiences in Britain told through a drag comedy-satire take on a 1960s-70s public service healthcare announcement. The work is grounded in ethnographic healthcare research gathered via group interviews with members of the UK trans/non-binary community. These accounts/conversations around accessing gender affirming healthcare will be layered throughout the film via sequences of lip-sync re-enactment by trans/non-binary drag performers and amateur performers from this community. It is our hope through this work to educate GPs in how to provide affirming care to our community, meanwhile elevating their voices and lived experiences.
