Drifiting

  • Daniel Antropik

Photographs for the "Drifting" project were created while discovering several European capitals. Cities were discovered on the principle that getting lost is the best way to get to know and experience ambience of the city. Openness to new situations and spaces during purposeless walks (according to Guy Debords concept of Derive) allowed the discovery of ambigiuos fragments of the everyday life. Situations were appropriated by photographs and transformed into a work of art, thereby blurring the border between everyday life and art. The maps have been attached to the book, which are mixed with the photographs. The project explores a concept of getting lost, as a way of discovering new situations through coincidence. In 2019 there was a 3 day exhibition of the photographs, which purpose was to transfer photography back to everyday life. Photographs were shown in the urban space, and participants were provided with a map to find them. The photobook was printed in 15 pieces. 13 x 18 cm
