Eat Like The King

A man who famously loved his food, this series imagines Elvis eating at Graceland in the 60s. His meals were lovingly prepared by Mary Jenkins Langston, his cook for 14 years, from 1963 to 1977. Elvis’ appetite didn’t change much with fame, he was brought up on collard greens and corn bread and continued to eat an unpretentious menu of sandwiches, sausage patties and scambled eggs throughout his life. Mary would often bring a tray up to Elvis’ room and he would eat as he sat in bed, these photographs set his favourite foods in different areas of Graceland – from hamburgers in the music room to coconut cake in the Jungle room.
