Entrepreneur Innovation - Website, logo & business card redesign

  • Nicola Guzowska

Overview

During my studies at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, my professor presented his company’s website. The website, logo and business card were designed in an old-fashioned way and without an eye-catching and engaging look. I came out with an initiative to redesign these three aspects of the company’s appearance.
All three aspects of the design you can find right here on this page.
Later on, I was offered a position at Entrepreneur Innovation as a Marketing Manager.

THE CHALLENGE

To design a modern and fully responsive website that is minimalistic, clear and easy to use.

WEBSITE DESIGN - Objective: To create a modern, family-friendly & trust-worthy website.

Research

I interviewed people who were looking for small business management training and clients who were interested in developing their business knowledge in income and security. I analysed user behaviour, current trends and user values. When I looked at feedback from potential customers, it was clear to me that they are looking for company support, engagement and commitment. However what I found is that the most users - especially the target customers - don't know where to find the best training value that will be crucial in developing their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, therefore, they either overpay for training or don't attend at all.

USER STORIES

I have chosen three most popular range of customers that have either attended or want to participate in the training.

Sketches

I focused on segmenting the website into five categories: Home Page, About, Our Work, Services and Contact. Started with sketching ideas and features we need. Then turned these into simple screens, several options for each with different functions to compare to, and iterated until only left with the best options. This was then used to create a low fidelity wireframe to build the architecture of the platform.

Wireframing

After quick feedback on the early version of the concept, the sketches were turned into high fidelity wireframes: generated in Balsamiq based on the paper version.

UI Design

Based on the latest wireframes, the first mockups were designed - I got feedback and used to make improved version. I used Sketch to create high fidelity prototype.

WEBSITE CUSTOMIZATION

Upon approval of the wireframes, I went right into the browser to build the site. I built the site to be fully responsive at all screen sizes.

FINAL TOUCHES

For fun, I decided to go all out and create a logo and business card. The main design concept was to create a professional look that is aligned with the company's values. The Director really enjoyed it and decided to use a logo and business card in a day to day life.

BUSINESS CARD DESIGN

Reflection

This project was great practice in building a responsive website. I was able to dive deep into the peculiarities of web design, improve HTML/CSS & SEO skills and learn each UI element's functionality.
