This project was based around Shakespeare's 'A MidSummer Night's Dream' and specifically 'Introduction to Fairy Land'. After conducting research into this story I was intrigued by the ideas of surrealism present however I wanted to take a different approach to this and experiment with a gothic and eerie theme. I used objects to create drawings and developed them into final prints. Whilst doing this I began seeing faces within my drawings and developed them further into characters or as I call them 'Leaf Fairies'. This term is described as 'pareidolia' which played a big part in this project as it fit perfectly with the gothic theme. Although my project was interior based I used the concept of a themed hotel. From my final samples I was able to visualise this as a surrealist experience, or commercial interior rather than residential interior. This communicated the idea of surrealism further as my work acted almost as an escape from the real world.
