Ethereal is a project for the Cristobal Balenciaga Museoa contest named transmissions. The collection is based in the concept of light and the reflections it creates in relation with the architecture. Light is a form of energy that illuminates, making things visible. It has influenced our lives, culture and art since the beginning of times. The gothic church of San Salvador, located in the village of Guetaria, which is as well Cristobal Balenciaga birth land, is a key place in Balenciaga ́s life, this building represents where he comes from and in some way, it is the place where his career started the moment the marquise of Casa Torres walked in to the church wearing a white dress tailored by the young Balenciaga. Gothic architecture employs constructive elements that make possible the remove of walls and by doing so, it manages to create architecture using the light and shadows on the stones as materials. Light passes through the building, crosses it and melts with it; creating shadows, transparency, and reflections giving birth to new architectonic forms. Using the architectural lines of this emblematic building, as well as the light that reflects through the stained glass windows and the shadows it creates as an influence for the collection, to create new shapes and using sheerness as an element in the construction of the garments, forming this way the visual appearance of lights and shadows
