Ethereal Solace

  • Amber Kennedy

Ethereal Solace investigates the relationship between gender and fashion through the interaction of material and the body in a 5 look collection. The line-up of looks embraces sexuality, expression, self love and acceptance with no boundaries. Through removing the line between genders, the collection creates a line-up of fluid garments open for all, taking aspects from society built norms and stereotypes surrounding the ‘feminine’ and ‘masculine’ look, and using this as a way to express fluidity. The garments development stems from the corset archetype. Taking this as a base, it has been modernised it into a new, refreshing and innovative design that is accessible as a fit-for-all. This is done through the use of combining techniques of lingerie and corsetry with soft knitted materials as it allows the garments to stretch and mould around different body types.
