This project aims to create a VR experience set in a post-apocalyptic environment, interrupted by intensity of joy. It combines vaporwave and cyberpunk art styles, whilst incorporating psychedelic properties in order to introduce a sense on euphoria through objects used in meditation such as crystals. The visual aesthetic is achieved through maintaining the basic post-apocalyptic aesthetic of burning and collapsed buildings in a deserted area, whilst introducing vibrant colours and oversized objects as a signifier (Queiroz and Stjernfelt, 2019) of the overwhelming feeling of joy. Most “joyous” properties in the scene were inspired by the artist @mr.babies. specialising in psychedelic analogue collages. The sounds create a similar juxtaposition. Including an atmospheric piece which suggests a dreamlike world with a hint of cyberpunk introduced through thin layers of rain texture inspired by 2814 collaborative project. (2814 : Rain Temple, 2016)Other sounds include a glimmer sfx emitted through crystals, popping sounds as diegetic sound to bubbles and an intense sound of thick fire as buildings are burning.
