Evelyn is a student film directed by Emily Mary Heighton based on a true story about a 1940's housewife driven to tragically take her own life. In direct contrast to her wishes to be forgotten to time, a photo was taken of her and has since become world famous. Her death has been reduced to nothing but beauty over the decades that have passed.
My role on Evelyn was to be the Unit stills photographer. I was left to my own devices by the crew, which allowed me to take full creative freedom of my images. Unfortunately, I was only able to attend about half of the shoot days, so I did miss some of the scenes (which I'm gutted about). Being my first film project, Evelyn for me was to figure out if I was going to enjoy unit stills. It's fair to say that I didn’t just enjoy it, I loved it! It’s given me the bug to create a career for myself out of unit stills. I was also credited, twice in fact! This really tied it all together for me and I am very grateful for Emily and the rest of the crew for being so accommodating.
